The Opportunity:

Join WUCF as the Assistant Director, WUCF Development and help grow meaningful philanthropic support for Central Florida's only PBS affiliate and home for jazz. In this role, you'll build relationships with donors and community supporters, helping connect supporters to programming, education initiatives, local storytelling, and WUCF's mission of changing lives through accessible public media. Classification Title: Assistant Director, Development

Responsibilities:


  • Manages a portfolio of current, lapsed, and prospective mid-level and major donors, focused on building meaningful donor relationships and growing philanthropic support.

  • Develops and executes individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for assigned donors and advancing them through the pipeline.

  • Conducts donor outreach and meetings to build relationships and move donors through the giving pipeline.

  • Identifies and qualifies new donor prospects within the existing pipeline, supporting portfolio growth and sustainability.

  • Solicits and closes gifts in support of WUCF priorities, including programming, education initiatives, and overall strategic needs.

  • Partners with WUCF leadership and staff to translate organizational priorities into compelling donor opportunities for fundraising priorities.

  • Collaborates with UCF Advancement & Partnerships to identify and advance prospects, ensuring alignment with broader fundraising efforts.

  • Tracks and manages donor activity and portfolio performance to ensure consistent engagement and progress toward revenue goals.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in a relationship-focused role such as fundraising, nonprofit development, customer success, account management, community engagement, public relations, marketing, or communications.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with a variety of stakeholders, customers, clients, donors, members, or community partners.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, track activities, and follow projects through to completion.

  • Experience using a CRM, customer database, or similar platform to manage relationships and track engagement activities.

  • Familiarity with Canva or similar design platforms to support communications, presentations, materials, or engagement initiatives.


The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:


  • An appreciation for public media, education, community impact, or other mission-driven organizations.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences and build rapport with stakeholders.
