Position Title: Student Employee, Fitness CenterJob Description: The Student Employee, Fitness Center Assistant supports the daily operations of the campus fitness center by maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all users. Responsibilities include monitoring facility use, assisting users with equipment, managing the check-in process and tracking visits, and ensuring equipment is organized and sanitized. This role provides customer service support while promoting a positive and inclusive fitness experience for the college community.POSITION TITLE: Student Employee, Fitness Center Assistant ESSENTIALJOBDUTIESANDKEYRESPONSIBILITIES 1. Manage the check-in process and accurately record fitness center usage. 2. Provide frontline customer service, including answering questions and assisting users. 3. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fitness center users. 4. Monitor fitness center activities to ensure a safe environment. 5. Enforce and abide by all fitness center policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. 6. Assist users with proper and safe use of fitness equipment. 7. Identify and report safety concerns, incidents, or policy violations to the supervisor. 8. Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of fitness equipment and facility spaces. 9. Maintain organization of equipment, including weights, mats, and cardio machines. 10 Conduct basic equipment checks and report maintenance needs or malfunctions. 11. Ensure ordealiness in fitness areas, classrooms, and related spaces. 12. Wash, dry, and fold workout towels and facility linens. 13. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. GPA of 2.0 or above. 2. Must be enrolled at JJC in at least 6 credit hours. 3. High School diploma or equivalent. 4. Excellent Customer Service skills 5. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 6. Attentiveness to detail, excellent organizational skills, initiative, and multitasking. 7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, demonstrating cultural competence and emotional intelligence 8. Interest in fitness, wellness, or physical education. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1.Willingness to work a flexible schedule. 2. Previous experience working in a fitness center, recreation facility, or customer service role. 3.CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). 4. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency. 5. Demonstrated multicultural competence. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1. Moderate lifting required (e.g., moving weights, equipment, or supplies up to approximately 40 lbs). 2. Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods. WORKING CONDITIONS1. Duties are performed indoors in a fitness center environment. 2. Exposure to moderate noise levels and active recreational activity. This is a student employee position that works around your class schedule. May work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. During summer and holiday breaks (Winter/Spring), may work up to 28 hours per week with supervisor approval. Full Time/Part Time: Part timeUnion (If Applicable): Scheduled Hours: 20 | |
