This is the specialist level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level solve complex problems, manage work , and provide leadership to others in engineering areas of specialization, with minimal supervision and increased latitude for unreviewed work. Incumbents function in lead roles providing guidance to others. They are also expected to have advanced skills and have the ability to work independently. Progression to this level is typically restricted on the basis of business need.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Engineering
  • 8 years mininum related work experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Skilled in engineering theories and principles.
  • Skilled in the practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Skilled principles of project management.
  • Experience in the utility industry.
  • Department specific experience applicable to the hiring department.
Working Conditions
  • Some business units may require visits to field sites and/or plants

Specific Requirements

The incumbent must meet the minimum ANSI requirements for this position identified within the scope of Nuclear Operating Fleet Administrative Procedure AD-LS-ALL-0011, Confirmation of Regulatory Guide 1.8 Personnel Qualifications

  • 1 year of nuclear power plant experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience

  • Bachelors inEngineering must be from anABET accredited program or state registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
  • Nuclear requirements for the Lead level include either a Professional Engineer registration OR one of the following: a Masters Degree in a technical discipline, SRO certification, an RO or SRO license, or Technical Nuclear certification
