DESCRIPTION

Performs a wide variety of scheduled and non-scheduled cleaning tasks. These tasks are accomplished by following written or oral instructions as received from the lead custodian.

Note other duties may be assigned: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • High and low dusting as needed - dust mops and wet mops floors.
  • Cleans and disinfects bathrooms, shower rooms, and other rooms as assigned.
  • Washes and cleans walls and windows as necessary.
  • Collects and discards waste, in designated areas.
  • Replenishes paper towels, hand soap, toilet tissue as necessary.
  • Performs set-ups as directed by the lead custodian.
  • Locks and secures all School District property and buildings.
  • In conjunction with other custodial personnel, performs tasks requiring more than one person.
  • Notifies lead custodian of any unsafe conditions.
  • Attends appropriate in-service training as directed by the supervisor.
  • Obeys and adheres to all work and safety policies.
  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements of Essential Functions:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with coworkers, teaching staff, students, administrators, vendors and supervisors.
  3. Dependable work record and positive work attitude.
  4. Aptitude to utilize district technology. (Including Microsoft, Email, work-orders, phones, integration software).
  5. Willingness to complete on-going training.
  6. Ability to read and interpret reports and calendars, comprehend and interpret documents or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities to complete the tasks assigned.
  7. Must be capable of continuously standing, walking, stair climbing, reaching, handling and gripping without difficulty, repetitive movement of both hands and arms.
  8. Must be capable of frequent bending, stooping, pushing or pulling heavy objects, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 80 pounds. Must be capable of working at heights over 30 feet.
