You Are:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lab Support Technician to join the Flexential lab operations team. This role combines hands-on server and network hardware work with broader lab support responsibilities including inventory management, decommissioning, dock operations, ticketing, packaging, and auditing.

The opportunity:

* Handle tickets for hardware swap operations in servers, including CPUs, memory, drives, and peripheral components.

* Perform network enablement tasks including recabling, port configuration, and physical network infrastructure work.

* Execute CPU swaps and hardware upgrades following engineering specifications and change management procedures.

* Install, configure, and validate software and operating systems on servers (bare-metal OS installs, imaging, provisioning).

* Perform BIOS configuration including BIOS knob adjustments and BIOS flashing/firmware updates.

* Troubleshoot hardware issues at the component level and escalate complex failures with detailed documentation.

* Execute decommissioning of servers and network hardware in accordance with established procedures and asset disposal policies.

* Scan, track, and manage hardware inventory using asset management systems; maintain accurate records of all lab equipment.



This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.

What you need:

* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, IT, Engineering Technology, or a related field - or equivalent hands-on experience.

* 2+ years of experience in a technical lab, data center, or IT hardware environment.

* Demonstrated experience with server hardware: component swaps, OS installation, BIOS configuration, and firmware flashing.

* Familiarity with network hardware and cabling (structured cabling, patch panels, switches, NICs).

* Experience creating and managing tickets in an ITSM or ticketing platform (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk).

* Strong inventory management skills with experience using barcode/RFID scanners and asset tracking systems.

* Experience supporting dock operations: receiving, shipping, packaging, and manifest verification.

* Knowledge of ESD-safe handling procedures for sensitive hardware components.

* Ability to read and interpret technical schematics, rack diagrams, and equipment documentation.

* Strong written communication skills for ticket documentation and audit reporting.

* Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with Linux and Windows Server OS installation and configuration.

* Familiarity with IPMI, iDRAC, iLO, or other out-of-band management interfaces.

* Prior experience in a colocation or hyperscale data center lab environment.

* CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent certifications a plus.

* Experience with decommissioning workflows and ITAD (IT Asset Disposition) processes.



Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.

Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.

Part-time employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching.

Full-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) program with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance.

Part-time temporary employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year).

All US employees who work in a state or locality with more generous paid sick leave benefits than specified here will receive the benefit of those sick leave laws.
