HOLT CAT in Irving, Texas is looking for a experienced Undercarriage Field Technician to service the north Texas region. The Undercarriage Field Technician 3, performs complex and comprehensive diagnosis and repairs on heavy construction equipment undercarriage at a customer's field location or in the shop as needed. Must have own tools to perform the duties and must have a commercial CDL Class B driver license with a safe driving record. Must be able to pas a DOT physical. Advance skills required

Essential Functions



  • Personally models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT's Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission Statement.

  • Must have completed VBL, DiSC, Conflict Resolution, SLII for Supervisors and Principles of Persuasion(POP).

  • Performs extensive repairs on equipment undercarriage and undercarriage components in the field or shop as required.

  • Proficient at removing broken bolts.

  • Able to perform basic welding needs.

  • Operates all tooling and machines used in undercarriage rebuilding.

  • Disassembles, cleans, inspects, repairs, and assembles undercarriage components.

  • Evaluates, measures, and monitors undercarriage conditions.

  • Works as a member of a team to provide expert technical and mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals.

  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs.

  • Prepares service reports and any other necessary paperwork.

  • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and work areas in a good, clean, and working order.

  • Performs and completes all tasks with no supervision.

  • Provides significant task and behavior-oriented leadership to other Undercarriage Technicians.

  • Act as a team leader on large projects.

  • Provides assistance, coaching, and mentoring to other Undercarriage Technicians.

  • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.

  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.

  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Expert knowledge of construction equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.

  • Expert knowledge with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems. CAT ET or CAT SIS

  • Knowledge of heavy construction equipment undercarriage - CAT Machines preferred

  • Must be able to use a oxyacetylene torch and perform welding as needed.

  • Excellent work habits, accuracy, attention to detail, and quality of work.

Requirements

Education and Experience:


  • 5 plus years of experience in Heavy Construction Equipment repair preferred.

  • Undercarriage repair experience is preferred

  • Caterpillar certifications is preferred

Additional Requirements:


  • Must have a CDL Class B

  • Must have a safe driving record

  • Must be able to pass a DOT physical

  • Must own large and complete assortment of tools and specialized tools to perform the job.

Travel:

  • Travel is required for this position with possible overnight stays.
Physical Requirements:


  • Significant amount of time standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, climbing, and reaching

  • Constant movement and use of hands, this position requires good manual dexterity.

  • Communicates with customers, service managers, and co-workers.

  • Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.

  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.

  • Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment.

  • Frequently lifts and moves materials and equipment up to 80 lb.

  • Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment.

Work Environment:


  • Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment.

  • Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and noise level may be loud at times.

  • Exposure to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity.

  • Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.

  • Required to perform work in cramped spaces, awkward positions and/or high places.

  • Exposure to minor burns, cuts, bites, or stings.
