Position Overview:

At UMC, the marketing team is more than social media and company swag (although they matter, too). We are strategic contributors to UMC's growth and daily operations, partnering with leaders across the company to develop winning pursuit strategies, elevate our brand, strengthen client relationships, and communicate the value that UMC brings to every project.

We're looking for a Senior Marketing Specialist to join our highly collaborative and high-performing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of pursuit strategy, creative execution, and keeping pursuit teams moving in the same direction. You'll partner with technical teams and project executives to lead complex pursuits and support capture planning efforts. You'll coordinate pursuit activities, develop compelling proposals and presentations, and translate technical expertise into clear, client-focused stories that differentiate UMC in the marketplace.

The right candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable managing multiple deadline-driven projects in a fast-paced environment. If you enjoy helping teams win meaningful work, turning complex ideas into compelling client-facing materials, and transforming strategy into stories that inspire collaboration and action, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do:

Lead Strategic Pursuits

  1. Coordinate pursuit win efforts, including supporting the capture planning process, managing the proposal submission, and coaching teams for client interviews.
  2. Partner with business developers, executives, and technical teams to develop winning pursuit strategies.
  3. Facilitate pursuit planning meetings, maintain schedules, and keep teams aligned and accountable.
  4. Help shape compelling value propositions that clearly communicate UMC's strengths and differentiators.
  5. Develop proposals, qualifications, interview presentations, and other client-facing deliverables.
  6. Write, edit, and refine content for accuracy, clarity, and strategic impact.
  7. Design polished documents and presentation materials using Adobe Creative Suite tools.
  8. Ensure all deliverables meet client requirements, brand standards, and submission deadlines.
  9. Support pursuit debriefs and identify lessons learned, win/loss trends, and process improvements.

Support Marketing and Communications Initiatives

  1. Contribute to marketing collateral, award submissions, sales materials, and other business development resources.
  2. Help maintain marketing content, assets, databases, and templates.
  3. Contribute to website content, social media, blog posts, and company communications.
  4. Support internal and external events, community engagement initiatives, and marketing campaigns.
  5. Help ensure consistent branding across all platforms and materials.
Position Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities:

  1. 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, business development support, or proposal development within the architecture, engineering, or construction (A/E/C) industry, or a similar environment.
  2. Experience supporting capture planning and multi-stakeholder pursuit teams is preferred.
  3. Strong project coordination and project management skills, with the ability to organize complex work and align cross-functional contributors toward a common goal.
  4. Strong writing, editing, layout, and visual design skills.
  5. A continuous learning mindset with an eagerness to explore and apply AI-enabled tools that improve productivity and content quality.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  7. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  8. Highly organized and detail-focused; thrives in a collaborative team environment.
  9. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign).
  10. Skilled in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  11. Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines.
  12. Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, English, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  13. Maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
