Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Curriculum in Peace, War, and Defense offers a long-standing interdisciplinary undergraduate major focused on questions of peace, conflict, and human security. PWAD faculty include academics from a range of social science and humanities disciplines, as well as professors of the practice with extensive experience in public service, the military, and diplomacy. This combination of academic faculty and professors of the practice provides PWAD students with a unique academic experience.
Position Summary
The Teaching Assistant Professor, with a specialization in international relations, will be in the Curriculum in Peace, War, and Defense ( PWAD). The position will teach 3 courses per semester (fall and spring) in support of the academic programs offered by the Curriculum in Peace, War, and Defense. Courses will include the introductory course in peace and security studies. The candidate will also teach other courses in the PWAD curriculum related to their area of expertise. There are no research expectations associated with this position.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
PhD in political science, international relations, or related field. Demonstrated record of successful teaching performance.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Expertise in the empirical study of peace science, conflict resolution, conflict management, or post-conflict governance, as well as teaching introductory courses in International Relations (or similar) is preferred.
