Bunker Hill Community College is looking to hire Adjunct Faculty to teach for the Audio Recording and Music Technology classes listed below.



  • Teach MUS-175: Audio Recording I, as part of the partnership between BHCC and The Record Co., at their facilities at 960 Massachusetts Ave, Boston, MA. Classes meet on Tuesdays from 6-8:45 PM.

    • Course description: This course offers a focused study of the foundational principles and techniques of audio recording in the studio. Through hands-on creative projects, students gain experience in various stages of the recording process. Course topics include skills such as signal flow, equipment operation, and microphone placement, especially as related to recording a single performer or small group.
    • Schedule Consideration: The class involves setup and breakdown time before/after class. Faculty will be compensated for 30 minutes prior and 15 minutes after class (i.e., 5:30-9 pm total schedule commitment).


  • Teach MUS-171: Introduction to Music Technology, at the main BHCC Charlestown Campus (250 New Rutherford Ave). Class day and time are to be determined.

    • Course description: This course serves as an introduction to the use of technology in the creation of music. Using digital audio software, students learn the basics of sound manipulation, including sequencing, editing, synthesis, and mixing. Additional course topics include the properties of sound, basic recording technology, and music notation software. This course is designed for both music majors and non-majors.


  • Potential to teach, in future semesters, MUS 177: Live Sound, and MUS 275: Audio Recording II


Requirements:



  • Master's degree in music, or bachelor's degree in music plus documented comparable experience
  • Teaching experience in music
  • Demonstrated experience at the professional level as an engineer or producer in a recording studio environment
  • Demonstrated fluency with Avid Pro Tools
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population


Preferred Requirements:



  • Experience at the professional level as a live sound technician
  • Experience with college teaching

Salary: $1,512 Per Credit Hour
