Job Summary:

Northwestern University is developing the world's leading center on effectively navigating difference through the Litowitz Center for Enlightened Disagreement. Entering its second academic year, the Litowitz Center is quickly becoming a hub for developing community, curriculum, and scholarship on how to harness the power of divergent perspectives, as well as serving as a convening space for leading experts and practitioners in this area and engaging in outreach to share insights developed at the Center with policy makers and the public. The Center is placing Northwestern at the forefront of helping society address complex moralized social and political issues, including by delivering evidence-based content and experiential learning to the undergraduate Northwestern population.

The Educational Initiatives Manager will focus on Litowitz Center's flagship residential certificate program and other emerging initiatives pertaining to Northwestern undergraduates and the K-12 sector. This role requires enthusiasm for the mission of teaching the skills and character attributes of enlightened disagreement. The Curriculum Director will work closely with the Center's Curriculum Director and Program Coordinator, while also engaging with the Senior Director and Faculty Co-directors.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support implementation of formal elements of year-long residential certificate program, including attendance at some evening sessions, and informal offerings, such as small-group dinner outings with Center leadership.
  • Implementation of current year's Campus Reading Program events and communications, as well planning for the coming year's selection through a Center-led committee process.
  • Help with strategic development for expansion of the Litowitz center's reach on campus through continued scaling of residential certificate program and additional programmatic offerings to undergraduates. In 2026-27, this will involve planning to recruit and train facilitators for the 2027-28 certificate program.
  • Contribute to the Center's partnership with Undergraduate Admissions, including development of resources and facilitation of events with Schoolhouse.World's Dialogues program.
  • Contribute to productization efforts around educational games to promote enlightened disagreement in the K-12 sector (e.g., partnership with the Segal Design Institute to have teams of McCormick School of Engineering & Applied Science students develop games).
  • Produce communications features regarding the Center's educational initiatives, and help develop a strategy for disseminating content via LinkedIn, news features, and other outlets.
