About this Position
Pinyon Environmental, Inc. (Pinyon) is seeking on-call, as-needed Archaeological Technicians to join our cultural resources team based in Phoenix, Arizona. We have upcoming projects on the books and are looking to add qualified technicians to support scheduled and future fieldwork throughout the Southwest.

This role supports a variety of cultural resource projects, including Class III pedestrian surveys, construction monitoring, site documentation, laboratory processing, curation activities, and technical report preparation. Projects are located across Arizona and neighboring states, often in remote settings that require overnight travel and extended field deployments. Typical field schedules are Monday through Friday, though some projects may operate on alternative rotations, such as 8 days on/6 days off. Work is assigned based on project needs, and hours may vary.

Candidates in this role should enjoy working outdoors, be comfortable traveling for extended periods, and be able to work independently in remote environments. Field assignments routinely involve traversing large areas on foot, navigating uneven, rocky, and heavily vegetated terrain, carrying field equipment and supplies throughout the workday, and working in a wide range of weather conditions typical of the desert Southwest. Camping may be required for some projects, and team members are expected to be self-sufficient and prepared for extended work in remote locations.

Experience working in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, or other western states is preferred.

  • Ability to travel
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of colleagues
  • Strong problem-solving skills
