Purpose of Position
The Writing Instruction Program (housed in the Department of English) is seeking part-time adjunct
faculty for the 2024-2025 school year. Faculty members might teach first-year writing or reading courses, including co-requisite courses with reading or writing support, and reading. These positions report to the Director of the Writing instruction Program.
Primary Responsibilities
Teach between three and nine hours (1-3 classes) of college writing and/or
reading per semester.
Provide support to students through office hours.
Align assignments and curriculum with programmatic and university student
learning outcomes.
Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in English or a closely related field (with at least 18 hours


of graduate coursework in English)
  • Strong background in and evidence of teaching composition and reading and working
with first-year students.
  • Experience teaching co-requisite writing courses and/or experience teaching non-native speakers is desired, as is a commitment to intercultural competence and inclusive excellence.
The pay for a three-credit varies slightly based on years of experience and education but is projected to be between $2700 and $3000 per three-credit course. In addition, the position is designed for candidates planning to seek permanent positions elsewhere. The department will provide mentoring and performance reviews as well as support for continuing job searches.
