SUMMARY The purpose of this posting is to assist approved Casual Hire employees in the application, onboarding, and hiring of a Casual position. This posting is not meant to recruit casual hires and is not monitored for new applicants. Casual Hire positions are part-time/temporary positions that are available to students and outside candidates. These positions provide administrative, clerical, laborer, technical, or other general support to administrators, faculty, and staff of Gateway Technical College. Casual Hires are under the supervision of the department and/or area that has hired them. RESPONSIBILITIES Ability to work the required hours for the position. Each department/area will require specific skills and abilities. It is the responsibility of the employee to review and discuss the requirements of the position for which they are applying. WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THE POSITION Interview with department/area for skills and abilities fit. Each department/area may have conditions specific to its position. Employees are expected to review requirements of each position and supply required or needed documents, credentials, or exams to their supervisor. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available. International Students seeking employment must adhere to the rules of the F-1 or M-1 visa in order to work on campus. DIVISION/LOCATION: District Wide Hours: Hours vary depending upon position. Amount of hours can change weekly and are not to exceed 29 hours per week. Position Type: Temporary FLSA: Non-Exempt SALARY: (Dependent upon position) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Age 16 or older. Employment eligibility for the United States. Gateway does not sponsor employment based visas. International Students: Must be a current student (enrolled) at Gateway Technical College Must have a F-1 or M-1 Visa Once a job offer has been obtained: Supervisor will provide details of employment to HR and request an Intent Letter International Student will obtain a Social Security Number for tax purposes Effective 7/1/2020: Casual employment is contingent upon an acceptable background/reference check.
