The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology & Emory University in Atlanta, GA, invites applications from exceptional senior candidates working in the area of computational and experimental systems biology, broadly defined. The successful candidate will be named the David D. Flanagan Chair and Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) Eminent Scholar in Biological Systems, an endowed position specific to the Georgia Tech campus. GRA eminent scholars are expected to engage in or contribute to translational and/or economic development efforts in their field. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Appointment is expected at the rank of full professor with tenure. Georgia Tech is situated in the heart of Atlanta, a vibrant city with great economic and cultural strengths. Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Immunology, or related fields. Preferred Qualifications
The department seeks a visionary scholar-educator and proven leader in high impact and emerging areas of importance to human health and biomedicine. A non-exhaustive list of related topics in the department's current research portfolio include strengths in regenerative medicine and cell-based therapeutics, biomaterials, immunoengineering, cancer technologies, and health informatics. Along with excellent scholarship, candidates are expected to have demonstrated strong leadership in building and leading extramurally funded research programs, noteworthy dedication to innovative teaching and mentoring of distinct undergraduate and graduate student bodies, as well as national and international recognition. Of particular interest are candidates with an established and active record of accomplishment in leading large multi-institution and multi-disciplinary collaborative research efforts and a vision for developing the next generation of systems biology tools to facilitate emerging areas such as mammalian synthetic biology, multiscale modeling, multi-omics integration, and systems medicine.
