Food Safety Specialist

Printpack is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Food Safety Specialist for multiple locations in Villa Rica, GA.

Minimum Requirements:

  • HS Diploma/ GED

  • Prior experience with Food Safety laws and regulations

  • Auditing experience (FSSC is a plus)

  • Experience with reporting

Job Description:

  • Provide support to PLT.

  • Participate on a company-wide food safety and/or quality team (food safety engagement team, PPK management system team, etc.).

  • In consultation with the appropriate corporate offices, help interpret all current and applicable laws, food safety standards, certifications, company policy and good manufacturing practices to ensure a clean and sanitary workplace.

  • Provide awareness and in depth training as necessary on food safety related practices and requirements & ensure that the local food safety team has relevant training and competencies.

  • Manage & and organize the work of the cross functional food safety team.

  • Generate reports and complete documentation as necessary to identify trends, educate the workforce, and supply corporate leaders, customers, and government agencies with information they require.

  • Conduct audits and inspections of plant activities, and train others on conducting such audits and inspections. Inform the plant manager of conditions, which could lead to potential violations of laws, food safety certification standard requirements, or company policies and procedures.

  • External Audits (FSSC & Customer) Prep Meetings/Follow Up, External Audits Auditors On Site (FSSC & Customer), Locker Inspections (2 per/year), Chemical/Raw Reviews

  • Liaison to external certification bodies (manage updates, audit schedules, and payments).

  • Hire and manage contractors and consultants where required to complete food safety activities in a timely manner and within budget.

  • Manage local micro testing & environmental swabbing program

  • Periodically review all food safety procedures and instructions, to ensure they remain current

  • Oversee FSMS & Attend Monthly Meeting

  • Maintain working knowledge of customer food safety requirements (Version Updates).
