In Fremont, CA, we serve global clients in telecom and datacom industries in providing innovative optical modules to support our customer's next generation networks. We are looking for a Process Engineer, Backend to join our team. This team will be responsible for MEMS optical cross-connect switches' design, development, and manufacturing in our Fremont facilities. This person will work with multi-discipline teams, including sales and marketing, product line managers, electrical, mechanical, and optical R&D teams, and work with colleagues of different geographic sites. Especially, this person will interact extensively with various components' suppliers to ensure the performance, quality, as well as schedule of the components' delivery. What You Will Do * With guidance from Sr. Engineers and managers, lead related team members on the optical cross-connect switch product subassembly process design and development * Will be responsible for the development of the subassembly packaging processes, such as the optical MEMS mirror array die bonding, wire bonding, as well as the hermetical sealing of the MEMS mirror array chip, etc * Responsible for the performance testing of the packaged optical mems mirror array chip with the testing engineers and the cross functional team * Responsible for the quality assurance and reliability testing with cross functional team * Responsible for the continuous improvements of the packaging process platforms * Provides technical support to technicians and peer engineers of the R&D team * Release drawings of the subassemblies, record process procedure details, documenting the processes following the ISO standards * Coordinates product activities with engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and quality using the engineering change request (ECO) procedures. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Bachelors degree in physics, applied physics, material science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering with optical orientations. * At least 5 years of product process development or engineering experience in optical related industry. * Experience with optical components and optical modules or sub-systems. * Experience with various packaging technologies, such as adhesive, eutectic, solder die bonding, wire bonding, hermetical sealing by seam sealing, laser welding, soldering, etc. * Experimental data analysis & statistical process control capability * Design of experiments (DOE) capability * PFMEA analysis capability * Planning, scheduling & risk analysis, and mitigation experience * Good inter departmental coordination capability. * Familiar with new product introduction process. * Familiar with quality assurance system. What Will Put You Ahead * Master's or PhD * Familiar with the characteristics and use of various optical adhesives, glasses, ceramics, and metallic materials. * Familiar with the opto-mechanical design concepts and principles. For this role, we anticipate paying $165,000 - $ per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form. At Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
