We Require

  • Three years of progressively responsible budgetary experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education may substitute for therequired experience on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field and three years of professional experience in budgeting or financial management
  • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) accreditation

Job Contributions

  • Coordinates, directs, and evaluates the work of a team of professionals in complex and sometimes highly sensitive projects requested by County administration or the Board of Supervisors, ensuring that projects are completed on time according to expectations
  • Reviews Budget Analyst assignments for accuracy before sending to management
  • Coordinates and conducts forecasts of revenues and expenditures
  • Cultivates positive, professional working relationships with staff in other County departments
  • Coordinates analysis and review of funding requests for new or expanded programs
  • Coordinates professional staff on financial and policy analysis and delivers recommendations that focus on the cost of services to citizens
  • Coordinates and conducts long and short-range revenue and expenditure analysis of budgetary/fiscal issues
  • Completes special projects as assigned
  • Serves as backup for Budget Manager as needed

Working Conditions

  • Exerting up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
  • The position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • Hybrid work schedule that requires access to a computer and high-speed internet
  • The position may require occasional travel to and from job-related locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County or private vehicles used on County business
  • Requires working standard business hours Monday through Friday and may be required to work after hours, on weekends, or holidays as needed during the pressing months of the budget cycle
  • Limited availability for vacation use from January to June
